Hi, I’M James
A brief introduction

‘The Tech Guy’

Advisor

I guide projects from idea to reality. I advise and coach technical and non-technical teams, helping them make the right decisions at the right time. I can represent your interests and guide your stakeholders at board level as a ‘vCTO’ (virtual Chief Technology Officer).

Writer

I distil complex technical subjects into insightful, digestible marketing, educational and training content, optimised for both humans and search engines. I use plain English, and I am an accessibility and neurodiversity advocate.

Developer

I build and host websites, apps and entire platforms. I have an extensive depth of technical expertise, using various technical stacks, built up over years of collaboration across numerous sectors and ways of working.

Builder

I build and run projects, teams and companies, for myself and others. I’ve worked with individuals, small businesses, multinationals, charities, and the NHS. I’ve created from scratch, and I’ve stepped in and rescued.

Fixer

I fix things, even if I didn’t build them. I have years of experience of performing root-cause analysis of complex, interdependent systems, and producing elegant solutions to the underlying issues.

Solver

I take ideas and make them work. I have a solution-driven, problem-solving mindset, and a strong bias toward action.

The GP Portal webapp

Based on the first GP Portal, which I built to a specification for the NHS at West Hampshire – but completely re-engineered with more flexibility and new features. GP Portal keeps NHS doctors up to date with the clinical information they need to do their jobs.
